Eskimo peoples, particularly the Yup'ik, use fans in their traditional narrative dances. This pair of dance fans, dating from around the 4th quarter of the 20th century, incorporate traditional materials: a woven grass part with dyed seal gut for color; fur; and feathers. A 20th century touch is the colorful strands of yarn.
