Inuit/Eskimo peoples of Alaska, particularly the Yup'ik, use fans in their traditional narrative dances. This pair of dance fans, dating from around the 3rd or 4th quarter of the 20th century, incorporate traditional materials: a woven grass part with colored spiral design; caribou fur; and beads. A 20th century touch is the colorful strands of yarn.
