This evocative bust of a shaman is estimated to come from the 1900's. It has finely detailed pointillistic eyebrows as well more boldly incised eyes and mouth. The nose ring is adorned with trade beads. Holes in the ears indicate the bust probably had earrings that have been lost over the years.
The triangular point was likely originally inserted into a larger effigy representing the complete body. The bust has a nice patina and wear marks on the back of the head indicating years of use.
