Clara Keezer Passamaquoddy Tricolor Basket Wabanaki
A lovely example of the work of NEA National Heritage Fellow Clara Keezer from 2005. Keezer was one of the long-time Wabanaki weavers who kept the art of basket making alive, making it possible for the Maine Indian Basketmakers Alliance to create an apprenticeship program for younger weavers in the 1990s.
The tri-color refers to the bands of dyed ash circling the basket in a diagonal: purple, pink, and yellow. It is in pristine condition with vibrant colors, light ash color, and fresh-looking sweetgrass.
4 inches diameter x 3 1/2 inches high
