A brightly colored round basket by Frances (Gal) Frey. Ms. Frey learned the art of fancy basket weaving from Sylvia Gabriel in the early 2000s. She later taught her son Jeremy to weave. Her son Gabriel is also a very accomplished basket maker.
The colors in this basket are very bright and cheerful. There is an abundance of braided sweetgrass, a time consuming process that was also favored by her mentor, Sylvia Gabriel. The sweetgrass handle is reminiscent of the frog handles that were the trademark of Mary Gabriel, mother of Sylvia.
