Native American Jewelry Kewa - Santo Domingo - Mosaic Shell NecklaceA fascinating inlaid shell necklace from Kewa. The mosaic incudes pen shell with opalescence, coral, turquoise, olivella shell, and silver. The style of inlay gives it an ancient look, though it probably dates from the second half of the 20th century.
Three strands of olive shell and a sterling silver clasp complete the necklace. The inside of the shell has a streak of purple, similar to wampum from a quahog shell.
Necklace is 24 inches long. Shell is 2 1/2 inches wide x 2 1/4 inches high.
