A point basket by the late Sylvia Gabriel. Sylvia, her mother Mary, and her sisters Deborah Brooks and Clare Gabriel are wonderful examples of multi-generational basket making in the Wabanaki communities. Sylvia's basket-making legacy lives on, as she taught Gal Frey to weave; Gal, in turn, taught her son Jeremy to weave. Jeremy Frey has gone on to great heights in the art world across the U.S and worldwide.
The basket has a wonderful golden patina; it is not dated, but it was probably woven in the 1990s or early 2000s.
Basket is 4 1/4inches high, including the finial; 5 inches in diameter at its widest.
