Sarah Sockbeson is one of the top Wabanki weavers today. Her tight weaves are impeccable, and her sense of color is outstanding. Sockbeson often uses finials made from deer antler, as is true on this fine basket.
This fancy basket has tight vertical ribbon curls, an uncommon technique among Wabanaki basket makers. The natural color of the ribbon curls contrasts beautifully with the two tones of blue splints. Sweetgrass adorns the top of the basket, both on the body and on the cover.
