M Francis Wabanaki Beanpot Basket

Baking beans in a crockery vessel placed in a hole in the ground lined with hot rocks has been a longstanding tradition in the Northeast U.S, as well as in other places. This charming beanpot, woven from black ash and sweetgrass, is signed M Francis. 

We can assure you that this basket would not hold up under the circumstances mentioned above; it is a representation of a fancy beanpot, complete with feet and a handle. 

If you notice the colors inside the lid in the last photo, you will have an idea of the original brightness. The colors on the outside of the basket have faded.
