Erica Menard, Penobscot artist, apprenticed with her cousin Theresa Secord, founding director of the Maine Indian Basketmakers Alliance. Ms. Secord taught her well, as Erica has become a fine weaver in her own right.
This basket has the colors of the US flag, arrayed in a very pleasing design. One row of braided sweetgrass and a braided sweetgrass handle complete the picture.
